Ed Garland announced as winner of the New Welsh Writing Awards 2018 (26-06-2018)

At a ceremony in Hay earlier this month, copywriter and former court usher Ed Garland was announced as winner of the New Welsh Writing Awards 2018
The New Welsh Writing Awards 2018, run by New Welsh Review in association with Aberystwyth University, is for an essay collection. The winner of the New Welsh Writing Awards 2018 is Ed Garland for 'Fiction as a Hearing Aid'. Alex Diggins was placed second with 'Sea Change: An Argument in Six Parts' and Nicholas Murray was runner-up with 'Writing & Engagement'. Gwen Davies acted as judge, with the filtering help of students from Aberystwyth University, and the result was announced at a ceremony at Hay on 29 May; Gwen's full adjudication, a filmic trailer of Ed's book-length entry, and further details of the winning author are here.
