POEM Michael Conley

NWR Issue 107

says the compere. They wear
matching white vests and knickers
and they are jumping up and down on the spot,
holding hands. At first the room is silent enough
to hear the metronomic thumps, the soft kisses
of bare feet parting from beery stage floorboards

Mike Conley is a thirty-year-old teacher from Manchester. His work has been previously published in a variety of magazines including Rialto and Magma and his first pamphlet, Aquarium, is available from Flarestack.
