Barely contrasting with the frozen winter earth:
the drift of the canal’s green waters,
the English rain and that crow shuffling along the branch,
as if to say
I’m from around here
and I don’t have time to waste on a stranger.

Jorge Fondebrider is an Argentinian poet and writer. He is the author of five collections of poetry and numerous anthologies and studies of twentieth-century Argentinian poetry. Jorge is also a translator from both French and English, notably of twentieth-century Irish short stories and poetry.

Richard Gwyn is the author of several volumes of poetry, two novels and a memoir, The Vagabond’s Breakfast (Alcemi) which won the 2012 Wales Book of the Year award, creative nonfiction category. His most recent translation from Castillian is A Complicated Mammal, the poems of Joaquín Giannuzzi, which CB Editions published last summer.
