Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch and Damian Walford Davies Reading Plus Open Mic (16-01-2013)
Tywyn’s Magic Lantern Cinema Turns its Spotlight on Aberystwyth Authors on Sunday 20 January 2013, 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Lantern Lit, a regular reading and open mic event at Tywyn’s Magic Lantern cinema hosted by poet and novelist Helen Sandler, features Aberystwyth poets Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch and Damian Walford Davies this January. Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch’s latest collection, Banjo, celebrates the centenary of Captain Scott’s arrival at the South Pole in 1912 and was published to great acclaim. NWR reviewer, Alice Entwistle, found it ‘magnetising’ and ‘precision tooled.’
Witch, written by Damian Walford Davies, offers a thrilling portrait of a Suffolk village in the throes of the witchcraft hunts of the mid-seventeenth century, and was reviewed glowingly in NWR 98: ‘vividly imaginative, intelligent and engrossing.’
Budding writers are also welcomed to read their work in the open mic slot. For more details, email
Entrance is £3 but free for those reading or buying a ticket to the film showing later that evening. Read reviews of Banjo and Witch in full by purchasing NWR 96 and NWR 98 available as an app for only £3.99 each.
