To coincide with the centenary of Dylan Thomas’ birth, HappenStance has released two slim pamphlets. One is a memoir by Thomas’ friend, Ruthven Todd, the other a short reflective essay by the poet Robert Minhinnick. Each book deals with the aftermath of Thomas’ death in New York, and each (in its own way) calls for a reconsideration of the myths surrounding Wales’ most (in)famous poet.

The Ghost of Dylan Thomas – written by Todd, a poet and novelist – collects two pieces of memoir. The first is a previously unpublished article held in the National Library of Scotland; the second offers extracts from an article first published in the early nineteen-eighties...
