My wife tells me we are attending the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) conference in Boston. She says it’s a big thing, it will be good for my career. I argue there is no proof of me having a ‘career’ but she won’t have it. She has two weekend passes and her employers are paying for the hotel, all I have to cover is my train fare and beer, so there’s really no grounds for refusal.
